Polyphenylene sulfide. High performance engineering plastic with excellent heat resistance (200 to 240°C), dimensional stability (resistance to high temperature and humidity due to low water absorbency), and chemical resistivity (equivalent to Fluorine resin). Key components of automobiles such as fuel system, hydraulic and piston ring parts. Used as an electromagnetic wave shielding material by making best use of electrical characteristics such as dielectric constant and insulation resistance.
Polyetherimide. Specifically has excellent water, hot water, and chemical resistance. Highly functional engineering plastic with excellent heat resistance (continuous heat resistance temperature, 170°C) and high strength and rigidity (rigidity can be predicted up to 200°C). Used for electrical and electronic connector and switch components.
Modified polyphenylenetel. Rarely (mainly alloyed) used only with PPE and higher performance plastic materials can be obtained in combination with various reinforcing materials. Can also be used as an alternative material replacing sheet or die-cast metals. Resistant to erosion by acids and alkalis, but soluble in solvents such as toluene and benzene.
Polyethersulfone. Excellent resistance to chemicals and hot water, suitable for medical equipment as this material can be used in high temperature steam environment. Can also be used as an insulating material for corrosion-resistant electrodes. Drying temperature is 160 to 180°C due to high water absorbency, mold temperature (120 to 180°C) and plastic temperature (330 to 380°C) have to be increased because the melt viscosity is high.
